Here we go!

Hello everyone!

I’m Sophie a compulsive crocheter/crafter who loves making crocheted gifts for friends and family. After filling my Instagram with many of crochet creations, I decided it was time to actually start writing about them, so here goes nothing!

I picked up crochet about 5 years ago when I was at university. Having loved arts and crafts for as long as I can I remember, it was an easy decision! I kept seeing beautiful granny square blankets dotted around Instagram and the like and decided I wanted one of those for myself. I bought some yarn and with the help of some YouTube channels I gave it a go. I was actually pretty pleased with it in the end, although I’ve never actually managed to finish the blanket – turns out it needs a lot of wool, it’s still in one of my now many project bags and I pick it up from time to time.

From there I fell in love. It still amazes me how many incredible things can be created from just a hook and some wool.

After university I started my PhD, I never truly understood what the word stressed meant until starting this. Crochet now feels like my lifeline! I started learning even more stitches and branched out into amigurumi. Made this little frog and then couldn’t stop (ignore the fact he’s missing a toe or two…).

I then started making toys for family and friends but I wanted to start designing my own patterns. Thus Scrumbles was born, I setup my shop on Etsy and starting sharing my creations with the world.

I plan to use this site to share my current projects, patterns and some crochet tips that I’ve picked up along the way.

In the meantime, happy crafting!

Sophie 🙂
